Imports and exports are essential to our country’s economy. Due to our proximity to the Port of Virginia and familiarity with all ports east of Texas, Hillcrest plays a vital role in keeping essential freight moving.
More than 80% of our drivers have US TSA Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) cards, required by the Maritime Security Act for secure access to our nation’s maritime facilities and vessels. Many of our drivers have their hazmat endorsement, and our trucks have Port of Virginia Pro-Pass RFID cards.
We have loaded and empty lift capabilities and a drop-yard in Norfolk that gives us the flexibility to pull containers in and out of the port quickly. Our own fleet of chassis can move 40-foot containers, 20-foot containers or ISO containers out of the ports quickly and reliably. We also have 43-foot drop-deck chassis with lift kits made by CIMC for either 20-foot dry containers or 20-foot liquid ISO containers.
Secure Storage
Perhaps most essential to our customers is our 39-acre gated and secure storage facility strategically located between I-95, I-295, I-85 and US 460, perfectly positioned to store freight from the Port of Virginia and distribute it around the country. Our storage facility is located 15 miles from the only tank wash near the port, and only 25 miles from Richmond Marine Terminal (RMT).
